We’re launching our song of the day project. (Photos: Contributed)

We’re fans of music here at Nooga.com. Throughout the week, we share playlists and new songs at an almost obsessive level with each other.

So, we thought “why not share that with our readers, too?”

Beginning Monday, we’ll launch a new “Song of the Day” section as a part of our daily newsletter. (You’ve signed up for that, right? I’m curating a newsletter (every day) with all sorts of local news, our Photo of the Day and, now, the Song of the Day heading.)

If you miss out during the week, I’ll write a recap of the songs we enjoyed as a part of a regular Sunday column on the main page.

Why are we doing this? Well, I think one of the great pleasures of life is exploring new music and waxing nostalgic about great songs of the past. Music is meant to be shared and we’ve got a platform to share it. So, that’s what we’re doing.

Our hope is that you might hear something new that you enjoy. You might discover a new band or artist that will become one of your favorites. Likewise, I’m always hearing older songs for the first time that become my favorites (see Robert Palmer’s “I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On” below).

The only way to discover new music is to be active about seeking it out. So, we’re going to seek the hell out of some music every week and we hope you join us.

Help us out: Email me or fire a tweet at me if you have something you think we should hear.

Below is the¬†first batch of 20 songs we’ve been listening to this week. I’ll add to this playlist daily on Spotify and recap here every week. I’ll also highlight our favorite song of the week in the Sunday column.

Song of the Week
We kept hitting repeat on Westerman’s “Confirmation” this week. The Roxy Music “Avalon” era vibes throughout and that chorus is something we’ll be singing all year.
