After Sunday’s episode of “60 Minutes,” which explored the safety record Allegiant Air, local flyers shared their experiences with the low-cost airline.

The CBS program reported that Allegiant planes are three and half times more likely to have in-flight mechanical failures than American, Delta, United, JetBlue and Spirit Airlines.

The airline’s vice president of operations responded to the report in a letter to customers and said it was misleading and prompted by a disgruntled former employee, according to Business Insider.

By Monday evening, three Democratic senators had requested more information about how the Federal Aviation Administration handled the safety concerns, according to USA Today.

Some local residents hadn’t seen the CBS report and said they’d had positive experiences with the airline, but also said safety is a priority.
