Riverbend Festival begins
The lineup for this year’s Riverbend Festival is full of interesting headliners, rising superstars and something for everybody. The 8-day marathon of a music festival begins Friday night with legendary performer Hank Williams, Jr. headlining the Coke Stage. G. Love & Special Sauce and Roger Alan Wade also perform on Friday evening. On Saturday night, The Wallflowers will headline with Land Of Ozz (an Ozzy Osbourne tribute band), Wild Adriatic and Down North also performing. Sunday night rounds out the weekend before the annual Bessie Smith Strut. Rising country superstar Luke Combs will headline the Coke Stage. Other highlights include Cam, Mitch Rossell and more. General admission tickets are on sale now.

Movie Night at East Lake
The East Lake Neighborhood Association presents a family-friendly movie screening on Friday evening. The film “The Greatest Showman” starring Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams will be screened at dark at the East Lake Duck Pond. Admission is free. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. The movie nights will continue July 13 with a screening of “Coco.”

Hemp History Week event
Local hemp advocates will celebrate Hemp History Week with an educational event and evening party in Chattanooga on Saturday at The Edney. Vendors will offer a variety of examples of how hemp fibers can be used in products. Advocates tout the variety of uses, including textiles, paper products, building materials and industrial products like paints, varnishes, printing inks and even fuel. The evening concludes with a Rooftop Hempy Hour on the Edney’s rooftop. The party will include hemp beer, hemp-inspired food, and live music. The daytime events are free. Admission to the evening party is $10 per person.

Chattanooga Roller Girls: Summer home bout
It’s a summertime block party for the Chattanooga Roller Girls as they play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Chattanooga Convention Center. This home bout is a benefit for the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee and is sponsored by Infinity Flux. The Chattanooga Roller Girls All-Stars will face the Atlanta Jukes of Hazzard at 7 p.m. The B-Railers will play the Clarksville Roller Girls at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Laughs Over Easy 
Comedian Dan Alten will headline an afternoon brunch/comedy showcase at The Comedy Catch on Sunday. Chattanooga comedian Bridgette Martin will host the show. Other comics include Aaron Chasteen and Matt Harris. The Comedy Catch will serve brunch, mimosas and the comics will provide the laughs. Tickets are available now.
