Chattanooga husband and wife duo Drakeford have released a new album.
“We’ve been working on ‘The Venture‘ for the last year and a half and we are so excited to finally share these songs with the rest of the world,” Lucy-Jane Lanier. “Venture means a risky or daring journey or undertaking, which perfectly describes the life of a full-time musician. We wanted to make an album that shares experiences we’ve gone through over the last few years.”
The last few years have found the duo writing and performing, honing their talent with Chattanooga as a backdrop. They became recognized for their music videos, including a performance of “Driftwood” from their 2016 release “Anchor’s Aweigh” at a local treehouse and an original song called “Chattanooga” about their love for the Scenic City.
“The Venture” marks a huge leap for the duo in terms of sound and production. But, as Lanier said, their sound is still authentic, rustic and focused on quality songwriting.
“[The Venture] expresses questions and doubts, highs and lows through lyrics that are authentic to who we are as people,” she said. “We wanted to challenge people to think about certain things that maybe they wouldn’t normally think about, as well as just bringing some joy and hope to peoples lives.”
The first single from the album is “Stronger Than One.” You can listen to the full album below.
