Soon, consumers will be able to buy two Southern traditions in one jar: MoonPie Moonshine hits shelves in about a month.
Seventh-generation whiskey makers from theLimestone Branch Distillery, Steve and Paul Beam are combining their powers with fifth-generation MoonPie makers, the Campbell family, to create the product.
“We’re two families with a strong tradition and distinctively different products combined to make something truly Southern,” Steve Beam said in a prepared statement.
Limestone Branch Distillery is based in Lebanon, Ky.
MoonPies aregraham cracker cookie confections with marshmallow filling that are made in Chattanooga.
The first three MoonPie Moonshine flavors are chocolate, vanilla and banana pie, to be bottled this month.
The 750-milliliter jars, with a suggested retail of $21.99, should be on store shelves in Kentucky, southern Indiana, Louisiana and Alabama in late January, according to a news release.
The product will also be available in Tennessee in about a month, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
Creators have plans forstrawberry, orange and lemon flavors for the summer, also according to the news release.
