“It’s a great thing to be in these publications, and it’s a great thing for our city for a national publication to recognize chefs and food in our city,”Flynt said Thursday.
Last year, Best Chefs America introduced its comprehensive peer-review guide of chefs in the U.S. That guide highlighted chefs from across the nation.
This year, the organization has created a five-part series of regional guides.
The Chattanooga chefs have been listed in the edition that focuses on the South, which includes 12 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
Gabe Joseph, editor-in-chief of Best Chefs America, said that the series sheds light on culture and cuisine from each state in the region. And it highlights the most talented chefs in the South, he said.
“As the result of months of research and detailed interviews with chefs for Best Chefs America,we discovered that regional trends and culinary culture were recurring themes,”he said in a prepared statement.
The American South guide contains more than1,000 Best Chef restaurant listings; special listings for the top 25 chefs in the South; chefrecipes for each state; and essays contributed by notable writers, chefs and culinaryexperts who describe each state’s defining cuisine.
The guide also features photography and coverage from more than 250 cities in the South.
