The new restaurant coming to the Southside on Chattanooga Choo-Choo property will be called Stir; it is slated to open in early November and will have craft cocktails, “artisanal ice,” an oyster bar and local food.

“Stir will have a unique offering of artisanal bartending; premium oysters at a dedicated raw bar; and a creative, made-from-scratch menu,” officials said in a news release.

It will be located on the Choo-Choo storefront that faces Market Street and is adjacent to 14th Street from The Terminal.

Chattanooga-based SquareOne Holdings, led by former Craftworks CEO Allen Corey, will own and operate Stir. The company advises and invests in restaurants and breweries across the U.S. and Canada.

The restaurant will have lunch; late-night menus; and an “innovative, meticulous take on mixed drinks” crafted by industry veteran Gary Crunkleton.

“Stir takes its mixology game to the next level with the use of artisanal ice in eight unique shapes,” also according to the release. “Frozen from the inside out with purified water using a special process to avoid air pockets, the crystal-clear craft ice ensures drinks retain their chill and flavor profiles for longer [so] the cocktails, made from a selection of more than 350 spirits, do not get diluted.”

Crews will update the 5,300-square-foot space, and there will be an outdoor balcony that will seat 100 people. Indoor seating will be available for more than 200 guests.

Leaders expect to hire 100 local people; anyone interested in applying can go to Stir at 1444 Market St. beginning Sept. 21.
