A celebration of life is scheduled for Chattanooga entrepreneur and musician Bijan Dhanani Saturday in Miller Plaza.
Dhanani, who was most recently living in California, died last week. A spokesman for the family declined to comment on the cause of death and asked for privacy for the family.
Saturday’s event will be from 6 to 10 p.m. and will include remarks from family and friends, as well as a musical tribute.
The family has asked that donations be given to the UNFoundation—a nonprofit that Dhanani co-founded in 2011—in lieu of flowers.
The parking deck at 537 Market St. will be open for those attending the Saturday celebration.
Dhanani, who was born and raised in Chattanooga, attended St. Nicholas, Bright School and Baylor, where he played varsity tennis. He attended college at the University of Colorado in Boulder before returning to Chattanooga, where he was involved in an array of organizations.
He served on several boards, including Causeway, UNFoundation, Tivoli and the Chattanooga History Center.
Dhanani went on to work as a founding manager for Track 29, then at local company Delegator. He later worked in special operations at local startup PriceWaiter.
In 2012, he was named one of Chatter Magazine’s Top 20 Under 40.
According to a program for Saturday’s celebration, Dhanani “loved everything about Chattanooga.”
He was “a natural athlete” and “avid musician.”
“He was the kind of guy that would do anything for anyone,” according to the program. “We take comfort in knowing that at the time of his passing, Bijan was at the happiest, most content point in his life.”
