Chattanooga’s own Strung Like a Horse honored the late Tom Petty with another of their Toilet Seat Covers.

The band released the video for “American Girl” on Facebook Wednesday morning. Watch the cover below.

Petty died Monday after suffering a major heart attack. He was 66.

“American Girl” was the final song Petty played live. His final concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles—less than one week before his death—ended with an encore of “You Wreck Me” and “American Girl.”

According to the Strung Like a Horse Facebook post, the band chose to cover “American Girl” after some debate.

“Petty was one of the all-time greatest singer-songwriters in American history, not to mention just one of the coolest dudes ever,” vocalist Clay Maselle said.

Strung Like a Horse has released several videos recorded in a bathroom. Their Toilet Seat Covers series also includes “ABC” by the Jackson Five, “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds and “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” by Paul Simon.

The band will perform at Something Wicked on Station Street Oct. 28.

Local artist Tony Mraz also paid tribute to Petty this week. His chalk drawing of Petty can be seen at Aretha Frankenstein’s.
