A championship game of horseshoes. (Photo: Picnooga)

Each Friday, we’ll feature a photo from Picnooga highlighting Chattanooga history.

This week’s photo features a horseshoes championship at Warner Park in 1925. The game involves opponents tossing horseshoes at metal poles to earn points. Players score by “ringing the pole” or getting the closest pitch to the pole.

The Tennessee Horseshoe Pitcher’s Association is still alive and well, with more than 100 members statewide.
