Cumulus Media has announced the neXt2rock 2017 competition finale Friday at 7 p.m. at the Robert Kirk Walker Theatre. 

The concert will highlight seven regional bands at a smaller, more intimate theater inside Memorial Auditorium. 

Doors open at 6 p.m., and admission is $10 at the door.

Judges will be Jimmy Hall of the band Wet Willie, session musician and former Bob Seger guitarist Blue Miller, and KZ106 personality Kelly McCoy. Scott Chase of KZ106 will be the master of ceremonies.

The winner will move on to the national challenge, with a chance to submit a live video showcasing their best original song.

During the finals, five bands from across the country will perform at The Viper Room in Los Angeles to determine the national champion. They will be judged by a panel of industry professionals including Gavin Rossdale, Scott Borchetta and Bob Ezrin.

The winner of the national competition will win a major label recording contract with Big Machine/John Varvatos Records and an opportunity for national radio play.
