Two UTC employees have resigned after receiving misdemeanor citations for public indecency last month.

They appeared in court Tuesday.

Associate Vice Chancellor for Communication Chuck Cantrell and Veteran Student Services Coordinator Joe Wiram received the citations after an undercover police investigation into acts at Cinema One, an adult movie theater.

They both resigned Dec. 19, UTC Vice Chancellor of Communication and Marketing George Heddleston said via email.

Cantrell has completed paperwork from the University of Tennessee System because he’s worked with UTC for 31 years, Heddleston also said.

According to UTC’s student newspaper, The University Echo, Wiram received a $500 fine after pleading guilty under the state’s diversion statute, which allows first-time offenders to have their records expunged.

Judge Lila Statom told Cantrell and Wiram to stay away from Cinema One, and officials set another court date for Cantrell Feb. 20, The Echo reported.
