Designers will present their concepts for a permanent Ed Johnson memorial Thursday at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center.
Following the presentation at 5:30 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to provide written comments and feedback about the designs. All feedback will be compiled and given to the selection committees, who will choose the final design.

The permanent memorial will be at the south end of the Walnut Street Bridge and will commemorate the life of Ed Johnson and the efforts of the attorneys who worked on the case.
Design teams visited Chattanooga last fall and have spent the past three months working on their concepts.
The semifinalists are Rodney Leon of Rodney Leon Architects; artist Ai Qui Hopen and Elizabeth Kennedy of Elizabeth Kennedy Landscape Architect; NBW Landscape Architects and Lord Cultural Resources; and Jerome Meadows of Meadowlark Studio.
More than 45 submissions were accepted from three continents and more than a dozen states.
The final design will be announced in March.
