An inaugural festival to help clean up and revitalize Alton Park … and have a little fun, too … takes place on Saturday.

The Alton Park Street Fest & Clean Up will begin with a neighborhood clean up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. along Fagen Street between East 38th Street and Workman Road.

Mayor Andy Berke and District 7 Councilman Erskine Oglesby will team up with Chattanooga Police Department and Jazzanooga for the event.

Guests are encouraged to park at the Christian Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 3709 Seminary Street.

Following the cleanup, guests are invited to attend a community festival at Southside Community Park with food trucks, entertainment from local artists and activities for community members of all ages.

“The purpose of this event is to empower District 7 constituents and the surrounding communities to take part in the revitalization of their neighborhood,” Councilman Oglesby said. “This will become an annual event of giving back to the¬†community and having fun while helping to spur economic development and investment in the area.”
