Mellow Mushroom is inviting superhero-loving local artists to bring their art supplies and sketch live models dressed as well-known comic book characters for its Drink and Draw event.

During the event, two live models dressed as Black Panther and Wonder Woman will pose and allow attendees to draw them. At the end, the live models will choose their favorite drawings. Those artists will receive $25 gift certificates to Mellow Mushroom.

“We wanted to go with a theme that everyone would be familiar with,” Vice President of Public Relations at the local Mellow Mushroom Brandy Burgans said. “Especially with how ground-breaking Black Panther was — we wanted to do something.”

A $10 admission fee pays for two hours of live models and for a couple of rounds of trivia hosted by Eddie Bridges. Attendees should bring their own sketchbooks and art supplies to the event.

The restaurant will also offer $3 drafts of Bell’s Oberon Ale and Dogfish Head’s Dragons and YumYums pale ale during the event.

Space is limited. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

Tickets and additional information can be found on Mellow Mushroom’s Facebook page.

The event will be at Mellow Mushroom’s downtown location at 205 Broad St. on April 23 at 7 p.m.

“You don’t have to be an artist for this,” Burgans said. “It’s fun and not a competition.”
