It’s time for our roundup of our favorite songs of the week.

The Song of the Day is included in our daily email newsletter. You’ve signed up for that, right?

And as always, tell us what you’ve been listening to. Email me or fire a tweet at me if you have something you think we should hear.

Throwback of the Week:
Mary Wells gave Motown Records their first No. 1 hit with “My Guy.” The song was written by Smokey Robinson as an “answer song” to “My Girl” by the Temptations.

Song of the Week
Oh, good lord. John Mayer, take our money. Is there anything you can’t do? The song “New Light” was released earlier this week. The definite 80’s sound is a departure from his current role as guitarist/singer for the Grateful Dead. We can’t wait for the new album! Earworm city!

Other highlights:

“Any Day,” The Sea and Cake

“City Girl,” The Caracals

“Spoil With The Rest,” Ryley Walker

“Quicksand,” Belly
