That screaming you hear could be humans pleading for ice cream, but it could also be the loud males in the Chattanooga Zoo’s muster of peacocks just being peacocks.

You’ll have to visit the 3rd annual Ice Cream Safari on June 9 to find out.

The annual event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. and the zoo will close to the general public at 3 p.m. to prepare for the event.

Ice Cream Safari admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children (ages 3-12). Chattanooga Zoo members receive a 50 percent discount and all children ages 2 and under are free.

Tickets are on sale now.

Guests can add to the experience by purchasing a $5 wristband that allows them to enjoy ice cream throughout the entire zoo. The wristband includes “delicious sweet treats from all vendors, face painting, special animal enrichment and animal encounters.”

“We’re always looking for different ways for our guests to enjoy the zoo while beating the summer heat,” Chattanooga Zoo president and CEO, Dardenelle Long. ” We think Ice Cream Safari proved to do just that and we look forward to the growth of this year’s event.”

Ice cream vendors include Mayfield Dairy Farms, Baskin Robbins, MoonPie, Clumpies, The Ice Cream Show, Dippin’ Dots, ICEE, Wendy’s and Food City.
