Each Friday, we’ll feature a photo from Picnooga highlighting Chattanooga history.

This photo of a postcard features the “new” Read House hotel in downtown Chattanooga.

The caption:

“The new Read House, Chattanooga, Tenn., to be operated by the American Hotels Corporation, General J. Leslie Kincaid, President. This hotel was built by the citizens of Chattanooga at a cost of $2,500,000. An elaborate opening program has been arranged, beginning with the flag raising on July 5th and ending with a formal banquet on July 8th.”
