The popular talent-show type program “American Idol” is hosting auditions in Chattanooga this summer.

Local residents can audition at an open call in the Scenic City on Aug. 28, according to the show’s website.

Anyone who wants to audition can register online to attend an in-person open call, and the show is also accepting online tryouts.

Northwest Georgia’s Lauren Alaina made it onto the show in 2011 and much of the region rooted for her.

Other Tennesseans, such as the Tri-Cities David Francisco, have also made it to the popular show in recent years.

The show has attracted more than 10 million viewers, according to recent ratings.
