A Democratic candidate recently joined the race for the District 11 state Senate seat to challenge incumbent Sen. Bo Watson.
Chattanooga resident Randy Price said he decided to run because he wanted to bring some reason back to his district.
“I see a lot of nonsense coming from our state senate, but not much common sense; a lot of ideology, but few ideas that benefit citizens of Tennessee and the 11th district,” Price said in a prepared statement.
He plans to run in support of expanding Medicaid, creating more job opportunities and increasing funding for education and teachers. He also said he is against arming teachers as a way to increase school safety.
“It’s time for our elected officials to listen to the people in their district and
across the state, and not march to the Washington party line,” he said in a prepared statement.
The primary election is slated for Aug. 2.
