Children are invited to participate in an immersive history camp featuring activities from the Civil War.

The Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will host A Call to Arms: Preserving Our Past July 24-27 in Fort Oglethorpe.

The camp is open to children 4 to 6 years-old and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

Registration is free and the deadline is July 13.

From a release:

Campers will have opportunities to participate in many of the same activities soldiers engaged in during the Civil War and learn about the struggles they endured. They will also take part in other activities focused on the park’s varied history. Campers will also learn the importance of battlefield preservation by participating in preservation efforts within the park.

Spaces are limited.

Participants will begin and end each day at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center. Lunch is not included, so campers should make arrangements for lunch after being released. A majority of the camp is held outdoors.
